I believe that we are unique in that I'm not only a web designer, but also the owner of a small business that uses the internet very successfully to market its products.
When you deal with Kamcom you not only get my technical expertise but also my understanding of how a small business is operated, the problems with cash flow, and the demands that are placed on the owners' time.

My philosophy is that a website is a form of advertising and as such must pay for itself with increased profits or it is a complete waste of time having one.

Kamcom came about after I designed a website for my own business, Titoki Sawmill ( www.northbiz.co.nz/titokisawmill ), and discovered that web design was something I had a passion for. (If you want to find out more about me click here) I also discovered there was a lack of web designers who were interested in, or understood the needs of a small business.
My idea was to create good, affordable websites, that when coupled with the right off- line advertising, and good search engine optimisation, would be a real asset to a business, in attracting new customers and selling more services or products
.

I understand that, while image is very important, increased sales and profits are more so. When I'm building your website these factors are my main consideration.

For the past eight years I've spent a lot of time on courses, at seminars, meeting people in the IT industry, and of course in front of my computer designing web sites. The sites I have worked on range from small "brochure" type sites to full "e-commerce" sites that are stand alone online businesses.

One of the most important things I've learned is that, while I'm a small business owner, and understand the pressures involved in owning one, I don't know about your business. You do. So I've learned to listen, ask questions, and understand what you want for your business, and then work with you to create the best website we possibly can. I believe that with my "hi-tech" tools and technical expertise combined with your knowledge of your industry we can create a website that compliments your business.

The website is just the beginning, just like in the real world opening the shop is the first step into business. I will help and advise you and your staff on all aspects of e-commerce and e-business from email campaigns, online banking, researching products, competitors and new business opportunities.

The type of website I produce is

  • Affordable-I work from home in Whangarei. The low overheads enables me to charge a very reasonable rate yet still be within easy reach of my customers in Auckland and Northland
  • Quick to download--typically most people only wait 11 seconds for a page to download before clicking out of it.
  • Easy to read --most people initially only speed read a page, and only read it slowly if something attracts their attention.
  • Use photos and graphics sparingly--these slow down the download time. Sometimes a speed must be sacrificed if a lot of photos are important to the site (an example of this is www.northbiz.co.nz/titokisawmill where the products have to be displayed)
  • Have a high search engine placement--this is perhaps the most important aspect of a website, the ability of your potential customers to find you using a search engine.
Search engine optimisation is a complicated process which starts at the planning stage of a website. It's made more complicated by the search engine companies that are constantly changing the criteria for getting high rankings. Optimisation techniques aren't taught in the classrooms, they're learnt by spending long hours in chat rooms and forums sharing information with other designers and on-line marketers on what works for what search engine.

What I will do for you

  • Initially I will meet with you (this is free) and discuss whether you need a web site, what sort, what you are trying to achieve, your existing advertising, costs and any questions you may have.
  • I will give you a firm quote on the site we agree on
  • If you decide to go ahead I will design a site, scan your photos and logos (or take digital photos), for your approval.
  • I will register your domain name (if one is required), arrange an ISP (internet service provider), and load your web pages into their system.
  • I will register your site with any search engine that is necessary
  • I will test your site to ensure all links between pages and other sites are working.
  • When your site is online I will check it weekly, to ensure it is working okay, and email you the stats. So that you can see how many people are visiting your site, what kind off information they are seeking and what off-line advertising they are responding to.
  • I will always be available to help or advise you and to carry out any other work that your site or you require.
