About Us

Photo of our team

Hi our team consists of Ben, Hayden and Gavin. We are in room 5, year 6 at Mangakahia Area School in Titoki, Northland. Last year our year 5 class entered the NetGuide Web Challenge and won first prize, in our category. The photo of us shows the computer we won as part of the prize; it is kept in our classroom and used all day, everyday.
This year our class studied New Zealand native birds, in particular the Kiwi, and its threat of extinction. When we decided to build our website we wanted to use only original content, but this soon proved impossible because we couldnt take photos of all the different Kiwi species. We are still proud of the fact that except for 5 photos everything was our own work. We would like to thank http://www.learnz.org.nz , http://www.chemistry.co.nz , and Bowdoin College for permission to use their pictures. Also thanks to the Whangarei Museum Kiwi House and the Northland Native Bird Recovery Centre for allowing us to take photos.

Our Tools
The site was built using FrontPage, and for the photos and graphics we used PaintShop Pro 7 which we think is a cool programme. To make our animated gif we used Microsoft Gif Animator.
The hardest part for us was making the sound files, which is something we had never tried before. We used Cool96 which is a really neat programme that allows you to do nearly anything you want with a sound file.
