Nicole Kidman

Born in Hawaii, but moved shortly after to Australia. As a young Miss Kidman, she started her performing arts career as a ballet dancer. At the age of ten she convinced her parents, her father an author who lectures over phsychology and biochemistry, and her mother, a nurse and educator who edits her husbands books, to enroll her in a drama school.

Ian Thorpe

Ian Thorpe was born on the 13th of October 1982. With his huge size 17 flipper like feet he was a 'thorpedo' as he is now known. Thorpe made his first major impact on the sport of swimming when, in March 1997 at just 14 years and 5 months, he was selected for the Australian swimming team.

Don Bradman

"The Don" was international cricket's most successful batter he played 52 tests between 1930 and 1948 and captained the Australian team from 1936 to 1948.

Cathy Freeman

Cathy was born in 1973. She was a good runner when she was young and got a scholarship to a good school where she could get coached on how to run.
She was the first Aboriginal sprinter to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth games in 1994. She won a silver medal in 1996 at the Olympic Games. She carried the Olympic torch at the Sydney Olympics.
